Day 123: A CLE to Learn about HT

"The Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association and The Jacksonville Bar Association partnered to bring a CLE to Jacksonville that will not only inform our legal community of the plights of people that are being trafficked, but will also teach our attorneys about legal remedies that can be used to help these victims. This Human Trafficking CLE will be Jan. 8 at the Hyatt Downtown, immediately after the JBA luncheon. This CLE will be presented by Martina E. Vandenberg, a nationally renowned civil rights attorney."

Day 122: Jefferson Man Convicted of HT

On 26 October 2014, a man arrested in Jefferson County (KY), received the first human trafficking conviction. The individual pled guilty to human trafficking after being arrested in 2011. The sentencing will take place on Monday.

What do you think should be the recommended sentence for the individual who pled guilty to human trafficking?

On 21 October 2014, President Andrew Caplen of The England and Wales Law Society answered this question by launching the Access to Justice Campaign, "raising public awareness of access to justice issues, and to persuade policy-makers to consider legislative changes."
